Cantor Penny Heller – Steyer, Cantorial Soloist Matthew Steyer and Cantorial Soloist Tiffany Green are a dynamic mother, son and daughter Vocal Group known for writing and performing unusual vocal arrangements resulting in the vocal harmonies unique to family singing groups. They concertize regularly, and were featured artists at this year’s Stephen Gottlieb Music Festival held at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts. Heller, Steyer & Green performed to a sold out house, receiving rave reviews from audience and critics alike. Their concert repertoire features selections from the great American song book, hit songs from the 1960′s and 70′s, original compositions, as well as songs by the best contemporary Jewish composers. Heller, Steyer & Green, and their band, create an evening filled with music, stories, laughter and love.
They look forward to sharing with the members of Congregation Shaarey Zedek a very special evening of song honoring their friend and colleague, Cantor Pamela Schiffer.

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL SERVICE & PROGRAM

Please join us for a moving evening as we honor the memories of those who perished in the Holocaust. Following our 7:00 p.m. worship service, Dr. Joanne Gilbert, The Charles A. Dana Professor and Chair of Communications at Alma College, will share her work Up from the Ashes: Michigan Holocaust Survivors Share their Stories. Up from the Ashes is scripted from interviews Dr. Gilbert conducted with six Holocaust survivors in the Detroit area, performed by students in Dr. Gilbert’s Spring 2006 course Performing Advocacy
