Cantor Penny Heller – Steyer, Cantorial Soloist Matthew Steyer and Cantorial Soloist Tiffany Green are a dynamic mother, son and daughter Vocal Group known for writing and performing unusual vocal arrangements resulting in the vocal harmonies unique to family singing groups. They concertize regularly, and were featured artists at this year’s Stephen Gottlieb Music Festival held at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts. Heller, Steyer & Green performed to a sold out house, receiving rave reviews from audience and critics alike. Their concert repertoire features selections from the great American song book, hit songs from the 1960′s and 70′s, original compositions, as well as songs by the best contemporary Jewish composers. Heller, Steyer & Green, and their band, create an evening filled with music, stories, laughter and love.

They look forward to sharing with the members of Congregation Shaarey Zedek a very special evening of song honoring their friend and colleague, Cantor Pamela Schiffer.

An Evening of Art

You are cordially invited to an evening of fine art
and delightful wine, featuring a private tour of
Saper Galleries led by owner Roy Saper.
Roy will introduce us to some of the 150 artists whose works are in the gallery. He will share art forms that many have never seen before, and describe how the art is created. His tour will also include tips on how to identify what one has in their own art collection.
Wine and light refreshments served after a brief havdalah service led by Rabbi Bigman

Members from both Shaarey Zedek and Kehillat Israel will combine their creative efforts as they tell the story of Queen Esther to the amazing music and songs of one of the longest running Broadway musicals in history, “Les Miserables.”

This year’s Purim Spiel was written and co-directed by our own Jeff Olds. Come see “Les Miz Esther” at 7 p.m. (6 p.m. for pizza dinner) on Sunday, March 4, 2012. Hope to see you there!

This series is designed for those with varying levels of knowledge and observance, those new to Judaism as well as those who have been Jewish throughout their lives –anybody interested in exploring our old – and new – traditions!

The Chanukah Super Sale will be held on three Sundays – November 20^th, December 4^th, and December 11th. The Gift Shop will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On November 20^th we will also hold our Bake Sale. Please contact Royalyn Vert if you are able to bake cookies, brownies, or other goodies for the sale. We have ordered many new items for the Gift Shop and will carry dreidels, menorahs, decorations, jewelry, candles, gift wrap, gelt, etc.

NOTE: In addition to the Sunday hours, Sisterhood will be in the Gift Shop to help you from
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday the weeks of December 4^th, and December 11^th. We are excited about the new items that have been ordered.

Never had a chance to go to religious school? Or perhaps you’ve forgotten some of what you learned as a child? Pursuing an interfaith relationship and want to understand your partner’s religion? Or perhaps you are thinking of becoming Jewish? Then this is the course for you! We will learn about holidays, life cycle events, prayer, and much more.

Introduction to Judaism is free for Shaarey Zedek members and $36 for non-members. (Please note: Students will be asked to purchase books to supplement the lessons taught in class.)

Classes will meet on Wednesdays, January 11 – February 29, 2012, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
